Critical Differences

Mahalo Hawaii Press Release
Date: August 15, 2012

A huge mahalos to the citizens of Hawaii who helped me garner close to 10,000 votes to win the Republican Primary for the Congressional 2nd district. This was accomplished without one dime in conventional advertising. I am indeed humbled and grateful by this great gesture of faith. Much thanks to my opponent, Matt DiGeronimo as we both conducted a clean and honest campaign. My worthy opponent in the General, Tulsi Gabbard, just pulled off a huge come from behind, David & Goliath, victory. Hats off to her and her campaign.

As per our views on various issues, there are a few stark differences, and I do believe the citizens of the state need to know what they are. Her service in the military as a war vet is indeed honorable and very much appreciated by us all. However, that should not over-shadow the few key major differences we have. These differences plainly sets us apart as per the ideological dynamics of Liberal vs. Conservative. Big Government spending and entitlements vs. Limited Government built on strong fiscal accountabilities.

Briefly, I will point out our key differences:

1. First and foremost, I am ANTI-RAIL. I have my own logical and creative solution to our traffic woes (see The Rainbow Tunnel)

2. I am a strong believer in the Defense of Marriage Act. The Sanctity of Marriage must be defended as between a man and a woman.

3. I have lived my entire time in the islands (since '61) in the 2nd district, with short stints on Molokai, Maui, and the last fifteen years on the Windward side of Oahu (35 years in Hilo) I know the neighbor island thought processes, and share their feelings and needs.

4. I have extensive experience in working with lawmakers. As a representative/lobbyist for HIBOA (The Hawaii Bar Owners Assoc) for the last six years and present, I was very successful in crossing party lines, and was instrumental in helping our Hawaii movement to be regarded as one of the most respected in the nation. Our campaign has been covered locally, nationally, and internationally by all major media, from FOX to CNN. The ability to know when to stand your ground on principle, and to know when to be able to compromise is a key component one must possess to do the job right in Washington.

I am against Big Governement waste and spending. Our beloved Founding Fathers would roll over in their graves if they knew that my salary for this position is an astounding $179,000 per year. Now, what the hell am I going to do with $15,000 per month???? I've never made that much in a whole year! This is DYSFUNCTIONAL BIG GOVERNMENT WASTE! I will make a promise to the people of Hawaii that I will donate HALF of my salary to the Wounded Warriors Project. Those brave wounded warriors need funding a hell of lot more than me. If I am elected to this job, I will encourage other lawmakers to do the same, as a profound gesture to bring down wasteful government spending. To find out more about my life, my views on issues locally, nationally, and internationally (from tax reform, Hawaiian Sovereignty, Rail, Defense Spending, Borders, and a myriad of topics) feel free to visit my website:
